I'm so glad I checked this blog out again. Seeing this post about the land of the Wampanoag fascinates me because I am descended from Chief Aspinet of that tribe. If you have anymore pictures or info please let me know as I would love to learn more. Thnaks so much for posting this. my e-mail posypockets55@gmail.com
I haven't been up there since last years hurricane. Several trees are on poor shape blocking paths now. Also I like to wait for hornet season to be over. The park on the hill is a federally protected area for endangered plants. It's nifty you know your family tree.
I've lived across from the hill where SandPipe Hedge rock is located for 23 years. I've taken alot of pics up on the top of that hill in the woods over the years, n decided to collect some of the images I can find together on this blog. The rock was cut n placed on the hill centuries ago, when a large, round, pipe full of sand was located here for village use. The local need for the sand pipe has long since dissappeared. Before the colonists n the pilgrims found this water surrounded village place, it was the summer campground of many tribes of Wampanoag Natives. The area is full of spiritual energy from their souls. A Wigwam where natives still camp n worship the Great Creator's Spirit is located just down the hill a bit. Mystics from all over visit the area to explore it's energies. Many kids sit here on warm summer nights n party. They graffetti the rock, n some trees, n add their own brand of flavor to The Hill.
Artist Alert!
I create all kinds of things. Closet musician, song-writer, Story, NF writer, Book Designer, Poet, Painter, n Sculptor. Working another job tho. Long hair, fairly ancient.
Where's the Dough? Maybe I'll get paid some instead of eating it. I'll get there one day soon, because I'm very determined n hard-working. Some one has to do it! As usual, I'll volunteer.
Time n energy helps.
your tag washed away :( you need spray paint next time, unless you intention was to not be permanent.
ReplyDeleteBingo-I think the kids rubbed it off or covered it over.
